No Ban Golden

It has been a while since I have written an article, mainly due to a hiatus from the game and welcoming another member into our family. All that aside, the back end of last year the Dice Fight team decided to run a "no ban list" golden event, which was well received by the player involved.

Here are the team lists:

Current Golden Banned List
  • Relentless: Basic Action Card
  • Swords of Revealing Light: Basic Action Card
  • Imprisoned: Basic Action Card (Uncanny X-Men)
  • Beholder: Master Abberation (Battle for Faerûn)
  • Ring of Magnetism: Action Attraction (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Final Results
Seeing these lists I remember a team that I played back in Dice Fight Legacy V,
This team nabbed me the top spot back then and was a solid choice, from the available pool at the time, but with no restrictions Collector Rob was able to make some improvements to the team still netting him a 2nd place, But why stop there? I believe there is still room for some improvement here.
let's Break it down and take a look.

Some of you may remember a series of videos thats DM North did a year or so back called Death Race.
The basis of most of those teams was a specific engine, so we are going to use that for the starting base for our team.
This engine will give us a strong draw, prep and churn engine and will make sure we have a constant supply of dice to roll.

We will add our win condition, which is going to give us our last Basic Action and half of our team.

If we assume here that we have a level 1 Spider-man the we have the base stats of 3a and 3d, with our team roster as it stands currently we have 3 affiliation which will net us a +2a +2d, which is currently not that impressive, lets see what we can add to round it out a bit more.
Venerable Dreadnaught provides us with 2 more affiliations, and also provides us with some nice field control should we need it, and takes us up to +4a +4d for our Spider-man.
Red Dragon is probably not the first thing that comes to mind, but being able to buy your Team Up for 1 less energy and deal a damage to your opponent is nothing to sniff at, on top of that its not outside of the realms of our engine to buy and field these, which supplies breath weapon 3 to help clear the board, and the ability to double up the effect on your Team Up dice. +5a +5d for Spider-man.
I know they're both the same affiliation, but the global are so good for this team that it becomes irrelevant. Cyclops lets us put Spider-man back into the field from the used, which is super strong.
these put us at a full roster, 7 different affiliation, and a +6a +6d with a Team Up die.
Thats a 9a 9d Spiderman at Level 1. Assuming we used red dragon global to buy a team up die they're already at 19, or 18 if you buy 2. Colossus global lets you double the attack and defence of one of your Spider-man die making it an 18a 18d beat stick and potentially a 1 turn kill.
So theres the final team, and i know theres no banned cards in there but this leaves it viable for straight golden events, if you really wanted though you could drop Create Food and Water for either of these,

Let me know your thoughts, and give it a try at your next golden event.

The God Satchel

Whilst we still wait across the pond here for the new product, I decided it was worth looking at how I could implement some of the new cards with some of the older. First stop probably the best card of the lot. Most people have been looking at this from a modern standpoint, but i'm going to skip past that, and take a look at what impact it can have on some older golden teams. When a card is looking for an action die to trigger it's effect then why not have a deck heavily focused on using actions to its fullest potential. Normally when you roll an action dice you have a 75% chance of hitting the action face. When your opponent brings Scarlet Witch - Careful What you Wish for, that drops to 25%. Acererak's Global is here to help negate that percentage drop. Fielding this is nothing to cry about either, with the Attune, and the next card in our list, the main ability is of some use. The global here is going to help us get some early damage as well as some

Fixing a Broken Format

Please bear in mind as I write this article that its 100% theoretical. Today I am going to discuss Global Escalation as a format, in short it is a format that has a few issues with it to say the least, so firstly were going to look at Wizkids definition of the format. Global Escalation disallows cards that meet the following criteria: 1) It has made the Finals of one of the following events: * Dice Masters World Championships 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 * Dice Masters US National Championships 2018, 2019 AND it doesn't have a Global Ability 2) Swords of Revealing Light, Relentless, and Cosmic Cube: Energy of the Beyonders are also disallowed, see the announcement here:  https://wizkids.com/dicemasters/global-escalation/ So as we can see here it came with a banned list already in place, which is fair enough, its a format that wants to weed out the power cards to a certain extent and force you to adapt and conquer, but there is already an issue. Firstly it disallows cards
